Selecting Wedding Rings | Old Traditions and Modernity |
For many years the wedding rings used to be the symbol of love and
devotion. The tradition to wear the wedding rings came form the ancient
times to our days. Just several decades ago there was a tradition that
the wedding rings must be chosen and purchased by a bridegroom. But
today the young couples do break this old rule and enjoy choosing the
wedding rings set together. This happens mainly due to the fact that
earlier those rings were of one and the same or almost the same model
– smooth and even, without any additional elements. Today
– on the contrary - the variety of the offered models just
shocks us. Earlier the rings used to be smooth according to the belief
that the smoother is the ring’s surface the better will be
the newly married couple’s fate. But as one can observe lots
of pictures of antique wedding rings in the internet and in museums,
it’s possible to make a conclusion that they had quite
different form and design in different times. Today we can also meet
the models made of various kinds of gold or their combination, various
ornaments, thick and thing. Nowadays it becomes more and more popular
if the men’s wedding rings differ from the women’s.
As usual the men prefer more simple variants but women do choose
good-looking and bright originals models with diamonds or the other
gems. This seems to be great because very often the tastes of the two
persons do not really coincide.
So what to select? Despite of having certain personal preferences
before going to the jewelry shop each young couple must remember
several useful tips and criteria. The first one is money. The price of
the rings must be reasonable and affordable, there is no need to take
the most expensive one, but to take the less expensive or very cheap
wedding rings is not wise too – just bear in mind that mainly
this item you’ll wear for many years. The second one is the
finger size and your figure. The tall and slim women usually prefer
thin items but the more plump individuals can afford thicker models
with lots of additional ornaments. The third criterion is the metal and
its color. If you prefer wearing silver trinkets you can select white
gold wedding rings and they will look more harmoniously. And the last
criterion is the design. But in this case the selection relies only on
your personal preferences and tastes. If you decide to take an item
having a gem just remember that it’s not recommended to
choose a dark-colored gem. Actually there is also a huge theory that a
gem form must coincide with a person’s character etc. But
don’t be disappointed if you didn’t know about them
earlier, a shop-assistant is always able to give a good advice
in case you get lost. |
